HOW DID THE IDEA BECOME AN ACTUAL SYSTEM?
The initial idea for a crime reporting system came from a former Dallas Police Officer and advocate of the multi-family housing industry, who saw a need for a system that would help create crime awareness for communities. It wasn’t until the idea was presented to Dan Elliott, owner of IthinQware, that it actually started to become a product. Elliott and his staff worked countless hours, with data provided by the Dallas Police Department , to come up with the first crime reporting system of its kind.

WHY HASN’T THIS TYPE OF INFORMATION BEEN AVAILABLE IN THE PAST?
Computing speed and connectivity to the household has always been a bottleneck in nearly all web-based applications. Once these hurdles were overcome, the solution became a viable tool and work has begun in earnest.

WHAT CAN I DO IF I FIND OUT THERE HAS BEEN A CRIME IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD?
For responsible resident owners, property owners and store managers, it is important to them that they are aware of criminal activity that occurs in and around their properties. This program will give them the ability to learn about illegal activities very quickly and take action when appropriate. For example they can notify family members, residents and employees about incidents so that everyone is more alert. They can pass the information to their courtesy patrols that many communities have, so that they are aware and alert. They can use the information to make their community more crime knowledgeable and develop information and response programs that will benefit the properties, employees and residents.

WHERE DOES ALL THE CRIME DATA COME FROM?
The crime data is provided by the Dallas Police Department from actual police reports. The reports are fed into the CRL system directly from the police cruiser through their mainframe system, and then cleansed to remove content that might be inappropriate for public viewing.
